Cobra and its generic versions of Viagra work just as well as the original, and that’s good news for people with health concerns like impotence. But the new Viagra is not just for men, it’s for women.
Cobra, a generic version of the popular Viagra, is also available in the United Kingdom, the only major US pharmacy to offer it on prescription, a new study suggests.
The drug contains sildenafil, the same active ingredient found in Viagra. It’s used for erectile dysfunction, and the new study, which involved women, finds it’s not just for men but also for women.
“We believe that men should not take the generic version of the drug, and that men should only use it if they have health concerns,” said David Pate, the head of the pharmacy and beauty treatment industry at Johnson & Johnson Consumer Health, which sells Kamagra. “We don’t want to make this stuff a taboo topic.”
But women’s health is also a big priority for those taking Kamagra, said the woman who did the research. She was one of more than 1,000 women who took the generic version. But there were problems with the pill’s effectiveness, she said.
“It was a little bit of a game-changer for me for years,” Pate said. “Now it has the potential to help many women.”
In a letter to The Sun, the British drugmaker is warning that women who take the generic version of the drug may experience side effects such as headaches, muscle pain and flushing. “It is not recommended for use in women,” it read.
Cobra also had to make some changes in its packaging and design to make it easy for customers to take the tablets, and for women to ask for their doctor’s advice.
The new study, published in the journalJAMA Internal Medicine, says it might also help increase the sexual desire of women. It also found that women who took Kamagra had higher levels of sexual desire than the controls, but not as much as those who did not take the drug.
The results were published Friday in the journal. It found that women who took the generic version of the drug were more likely to have a higher sex drive.
“It’s important to remember that women are very vulnerable and can have serious health risks if they are not taking a healthy dose,” Pate said.
“I believe it is important for women and their partners to talk to their doctors about safe medications for their health,” he added.
The research has been funded by Johnson & Johnson Consumer Health. Pate has written an email to customers in response to the latest research.

Johnson & Johnson Consumer Health is the first to report the findings, which are based on one study that involved a group of women with low sexual desire.
The study, published in theJournal of Women’s Health, involved a group of 20 women with moderate to severe sexual distress, and was conducted between June 2022 and May 2023. Researchers took samples of their sexual desire from women who had used Kamagra for at least three months. They analyzed data from one study that included one-third of the women.
Men taking the generic drug also were asked to rate their sexual experiences on a scale of 1 to 10. The results showed that those who took the generic version of the drug were more likely to have higher levels of sexual desire than those who did not take the drug.
Pate said the results are important because the men taking the generic drug are often not as aroused as those who take the original drug. “They’re not aroused enough, and the effects are much more intense,” he said.
The FDA has said that the generic version of Kamagra is not approved by the FDA for use in women. But in November 2017, the FDA said that it would approve the generic version for use in women.
Viagra is a FDA approved prescription medication for the management of erectile dysfunction. It helps enhance blood flow, supporting erectile function during sexual activity.
